Thanks to TIC, we had a relaxed and fun tour of the Schouwburg theater, one of Tilburg’s attractions. Before the tour began, some of us met up at the Foyer restaurant for a light lunch.
The Foyer is inside the Schouwburg building and it’s an elegant and cosy restaurant with a very modern interior.
After lunch we
were greeted by our tour guide, Jeanet, who first briefed us about the history of the Schouwburg. Then we went to the concert hall/concertzaal. It is a big hall with spectacular lighting that changes colors to create a warm and entertaining atmosphere.

From there, we moved on to the Schouwburg hall which has a larger capacity (864) than the concert hall (764) but still feels cosy and comfortable. Unlike the concert hall that has a more modern feel, the Schouwburg hall has a more classic theater feel.
The great part of this tour was having the opportunity of going “behind the scenes.” It’s amazing how much work is done back stage in order to showcase a fantastic performance on stage for the audience. The different stage setups, wardrobes, equipment, dressing rooms, lightings, etc. all of which you never see as an audience but exists backstage.
We concluded our tour at the very point we started, the Foyer restaurant. With a big thanks to Jeanet, we all went our own ways feeling wiser and looking forward to the next TIC event.
