A team of tíc members is participating in the national Nacht van de Vluchteling (Night of the Refugee) charity walk to raise support for Stichting Vluchteling in their work to provide emergency aid to refugees and we would love to have you involved!
If you are interested in doing the charity walk, we’ve got good news: We switched to a shorter route: 20 km instead of the original 40 km. And, the event will begin at 6:45pm (18:45) instead of midnight. Lucky for us! Let us know if you have any questions or would like to join our team. We will get together a few times between now and June to practice walking.
If an evening of walking isn’t your thing, or your schedule is already full for 15 Jun, would you consider spreading the word about our team? Repost the tíc team page on social media (buttons on the top of the Nacht van de Vluchteling page) to encourage others to make a donation to help refugees.. Donations made on our team page go directly to the certified non-profit Stichting Vluchteling.

About this National Event
This year celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Night of the Refugee. With more than 7,000 participants spread over 10 cities throughout the country, it’s expected to be another memorable occasion. Where will the tic team be? In and around Rotterdam!
Together with the help of thousands of people, the charity aims to raise the biggest amount possible in order to provide more emergency aid to refugees and internally displaced people. This aid is badly needed with more than 68.5 million people on the run from war and violence.
By participating and while being sponsored, you too can help refugees in need. The more money you raise, the more emergency aid comes available for them.
Participants walk a set route together at night in order to momentarily identify with the plight of refugees who flee danger at home on foot. (Of course, the charity provides amenities along the routes so it’s not as harrowing as the actual refugee experience). While those who walk the route are expressing their solidarity with refugees, they are also encouraging people to donate to the charity to provide emergency aid for refugees.
