20 Jun 2020. 2020 has been an unusual year, and our annual picnic was a bit different this year as well- but still a very fun get-together and pleasant way to spend a beautiful weekend afternoon.
We were all thankful that conditions have improved in the Netherlands such that we could meet up again and socialize in a group. It was great to catch up with fellow tíc members and even meet a new family to tíc!
While our annual picnic usually involves quite the feast of BBQ on the grill and a potluck of dishes from around the world, this year we weren’t able to share food so that we could keep up with the social-distancing standards. But that did not dampen the festive mood. A local business delivered individual picnic platters and other members arrived with their own delicious goodies (and wine) to enjoy in the sun or shade, depending on where you spread out your picnic blanket.
This year’s tícnic was smaller (max 30 people were allowed to attend due to corona measures) and more chill than in previous years (read: less rowdy without water games, running games, games with balls, games with balloons). But all in all, it was exactly what I and probably others needed: To see each other again, relax and catch up with the Dutch weather gloriously cooperating to give us a great afternoon.
