A warm Welcome Back

by Katie Schweitzer
13 Jan 2023. The Welcome Back Borrel was a lot of fun. For the current members, we conducted some club business including voting in the new members of the board, myself included, and then afterward we had snacks and drinks and met some new people as well.

Our Welcome Back Borrel had a big crowd!
04 Feb 2022. “If you missed TIC’s first-in-a-long-time-in-person-borrel last Friday evening, you missed a fun get together! I don’t know about you, but I was pretty starved for in-person communication and the borrel hit the spot for me! 🙂 ~ Anne van Oorschot

#FBF: Ugly Sweaters and a good borrel was had by all!
Next Sunday we’ll meet up again for our annual Ugly Sweater Borrel. For #FlashbackFriday, here’s a look at our “ugly” gathering from 2018!

22.12.2018. Once again, we had a great time socializing and snacking during our traditional Christmas borrel. This year we met at Cafe Bakker with everyone charged with wearing their best “ugly sweater.” It was interesting to see what our members’ ideas were of an “ugly” sweater.
Despite the overcrowding around the Korte Heuvel that we were expecting, it was pleasantly cozy in Cafe Bakker where members shared their happiness of starting the holiday season and discussing Christmas and New Year’s plans.
A borrel was the perfect way to bid everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
#TBT Paradox borrel
Tomorrow we’ll be online again for another fun borrel/game night. For #ThrowbackThursday, here’s a look back at one of our borrels from 2014 at the Paradox! (Hopefully we’ll get back to hosting in-person barrels again soon!)

by Patricia Gonzalez. Confession time. I’ve lived in Tilburg for two years now, practically in the neighborhood of Paradox, and I profess to be a lover of all things jazz. Yet I had never been there until the night of TIC’s borrel. It wasn’t because I had never heard of the place. Paradox is a popular jazz venue among Tilburg residents and the non-profit foundation has been around for almost 30 years. Still, I had never gone. (more…)
“Beerophiles” gather… hilarity ensues
5 March 2021. by Essi Koskela. Unlike the several devoted beerophiles attending the tic beer tasting event, I was hesitant at first. My preference has settled in the plain pilsje and lager after years of empirical research, and I was not sure I was ready to challenge this concept.
The Experience
Unfooled by my prejudice, I set out to experience the selection of four local craft beers: a hazy landbier (Beerze Classic), IPA, a subtle triple (School Strafwerk), and a thick, rich porter (Engelbertus Zachte Heelmeester). Joining us online was our beer master, Hans from HetBierMoment. Thanks to tic, 4 beers + a beer glass were delivered straight to each participant’s door. That’s tic service at its best! (more…)
#TBT: Trip to La Trappe Brewery
Tomorrow, we will be doing an at-home beer tasting workshop presented by Hetbiermoment. For #ThrowbackThursday, let’s take a look at our tour from 2018 to Koningshoeven monastery to visit the Trappist Brewery, famous for La Trappe beer!
22 September 2018. by Elaine Ferguson. A group of enthusiastic beer tasters assembled outside the La Trappe Monastery in Berkel Enschot. Coincidently, the majority of our group consisted of Australians although some were from Sydney.
Antonio our guide met us at the gates and we preceded to the brew room where he explained the process (see link below), but the most important part for us to remember was the 2nd fermentation!! As once the beer is bottled, it continues to ferment. So, the longer you store it, the better the taste. (more…)

14.05.2015 If you missed TIC’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on May 14th, you missed a great time! A great time at an AGM? Yes, you read correctly!
tíc Board of Directors hard at work!
We had a nice turnout and, after a welcome coffee with sweets, we began the evening as we do every year, with a short presentation over the club and how we are performing. All board members are still in term, so no need for a vote but our treasurer, Yiyi Bai, will be leaving us at the end of the club year and we are in search of a replacement. Next, Anne shared our membership numbers which are slightly up from last year but still considerably lower than when we had the first influx of university members. (more…)
