Join Book Club!
Are you up for a good discussion with a group of friendly book-lovers? Would you like to expand your reading horizons by reading a book you may not have chosen yourself? Do you want to spend a relaxed evening chatting about a book, and often many other life topics, with a cup of tea, coffee or perhaps glass of wine in your hand? Join tíc’s Book Club where we meet up approximately once every 6 weeks to discuss the latest book pick by the group. (more…)
#TBT: ticnic a success!
In just a couple of days we will once again meet up for our annual “TICnic”. Even though our format is a bit different to accommodate a “safe” experience, we’re still looking forward to our end-of-year get-together. For #ThrowbackThursday, let’s take a look the fun and games from last year!

30 Jun 2019. This year we had perfect weather for our annual picnic. To our regular participants, our once a year, pre-summer gathering is known as the tícnic. In a not too warm, not too cold outdoor venue, a big crowd of tíc members and guests came together to once again help bring the club season to a close.
In the middle of a lush green park on the campus of Tilburg University, everyone happily sat at the picnic tables or on the grass to enjoy a good old-fashioned cookout. Thanks to many of our male members who “manned” the grill, there were hamburgers, veggie burgers, braadworst and kip saté to be gobbled up. Members also brought many delicious types of salad or dessert to share. (more…)
President’s Message – May 2020
Dear tic friends,
What a bizarre time it is around the world! I’m writing this message to you from my newly renovated
home office (I couldn’t take standing at my kitchen counter anymore!) and trying to express to you all
how much I miss the interaction with my fellow club members.
With large events postponed throughout the Netherlands until at least September, this is essentially the end of the club year. While we are experimenting with virtual book club and, if that goes well, an online happy hour, all other events are cancelled or postponed for the remainder of the season. Your board is working on a way to have an interactive Annual General Meeting – perhaps with an online pub quiz after we update you on the status of your club. Keep an eye on our social media pages for updates on the AGM as well as tips and tricks for making the most of your time in quarantine.
Although it is no fun cancelling events or staying home, the health of you and your family will always be the number one priority. I hope you have been able to stay in touch with family and friends abroad and that you and your loved ones have remained healthy and safe. Take care and I hope to see you at a virtual event soon!

tíc Brochure available
tíc is a non-profit volunteer organization that provides social and educational activities for expatriates and internationals living in and around Tilburg.
- tíc helps internationals feel more at home in the Netherlands. We strive to help ease the adjustment process with practical tips, advice and information on daily life in the Netherlands. We offer a relaxed and fun social atmosphere for introducing partners and children to new people and for learning more about the Tilburg, Noord Brabant and the Netherlands.
tíc logo has meaning
Over the past 12 years, tíc has grown in many different ways from its membership base and types of activities to its partnerships and sponsors. We are still dedicated to helping expats better understand the people and culture of the Netherlands as well as providing a relaxed social atmosphere for meeting new people.
A few years ago, the tilburg international club logo underwent a make-over thanks to Bas van Steensel of Studio Stoom! The meaning and story behind our updated identity is an interesting one.
The “tíc” showcased in our new logo is how we affectionately refer to our club.
The blue, complimented by the orange circles, embodies the City of Tilburg within the Netherlands.
The multicolored circles reflect our members made up of individuals from all different nationalities.
And last, but not least, the shape of the globe signifies the international nature of our organisation.
President’s Message – Mar 2020
Here we are in March already … my, how time flies! I would like to use this platform just to let you know how dedicated and excited your Board is for the second half of this club season. There are the typical things on our agenda but what I’m most excited about is the May Market event for charity where our members chose Make-A-Wish Nederland as the foundation we want to sponsor this season.

DESTIL Trappers win again!

16 Feb 2020. On a bright but windy February day, a large crowd of tíc members met to watch the three-time Oberlina Champion ice hockey team potentially make their way to the play-offs again this year. The DESTIL Trappers, coached by Bo Subr, swept the ice with Krefelder EV ’81 in their home game Sunday afternoon with a final score of 9 – 0, their 5th shut out of the season.
