Trip to La Trappe Brewery

Saturday, 22ndSeptember a group of enthusiastic beer tasters assembled outside the La Trappe Monastery in Berkel Enschot. Coincidently, the majority of our group consisted of Australians although some were from Sydney.

Antonio our guide met us at the gates and we preceded to the brew room where he explained the process (see link below), but the most important part for us to remember was the 2nd fermentation!! As once the beer is bottled, it continues to ferment. So, the longer you store it, the better the taste. (more…)

“The most beautiful sound in the world is silence. When it is quiet you can listen to yourself and others. Silence is the sleep that nourishes wisdom. Silence starts with attention and what you give attention grows. Silence is the white between the written lines. Things become more intense in silence. Taste the silence.”

So said the advertising copy for La Trappe beer. As a marketing campaign, it had me impressed. It was poetic, well written and had me excited about the product. And I’m not even an avid beer drinker.
