On Friday, November 24th, 6 TIC members and 2 guests braved the dreary and damp weather to meet at Pathe for Napoleon – our movie choice for this month. The film, by director Ridley Scott, starred Joaquin Phoenix, and was an epic 3 hours long. The film offered a look at the military commander’s origins and his swift, ruthless climb to emperor, as well as his fall from grace and exile from France.

tic Holiday Dinner

Join us for a delightful evening at the annual tic Holiday Dinner hosted at the warm and welcoming Good Mood Piushaven in Tilburg!

At 18:00 we will start the evening with a Welcome Drink, and we will be seated at 18:30 to enjoy a 3-couse meal. It will include options for every diet, and we will have an open bar that includes soft drinks, wine, coffee, tea and pils until 20:30. (You can also order drinks after at your own expense.)

Dickens Festival in Deventer

With the Christmas holidays around the corner, we’re excited to invite you to join us at the Dickens Festijn in Deventer, where the enchanting town transforms into the 19th-century world of Charles Dickens.

More than 950 characters from Dickens’ famous books come to life, including Oliver Twist, Scrooge, Marley, and Mr. Pickwick. Vagabonds beg, thieves steal, and the air is filled with the scent of punch, puffed potatoes, and roasted chestnuts. Wealthy ladies and gentlemen, adorned with top hats, parade through the streets.

Ugly Sweater Borrel

On 7 November 2023 TIC’s Book Club met to discuss Goodbye Sarajevo, which is a poignant and gripping memoir that offers a deeply personal account of the Bosnian War’s impact on one family. Written by Atka Reid and Hana Schofield, the book provides a unique perspective on the conflict, focusing on the experiences of two sisters, Atka and Hana, who find themselves on opposite sides of the world as war tears apart their hometown of Sarajevo.

The 17th October was the night of “The Teacher’s Lounge” at Cinecitta’, a feature film by the German-Turkish director İlker Çatak.
A story about an idealistic teacher, interpreted by Leonie Benesch, who involuntarily started a teacher/student conflict in the school in the name of honesty and justice. This conflict is the main topic of the whole movie, where the director try to depict continuously a disorientating and anxious atmosphere with the help of a minimalistic soundtrack.
