A nice group of tic movie buffs recently watched Hamnet for movie night, and I wanted to share my thoughts on this poignant film. To start, I found the first half a bit slow. It took its time to build the atmosphere, which, while beautifully crafted, left me feeling a tad restless. However, I was completely captivated by the cinematography. The visuals were stunning and that was enough to  draw me into the world of the story and keep me interested. As the film progressed into the second half, I felt a shift. It became truly beautiful and incredibly moving. The emotional depth of the film unfolded in a way that left me somewhat emotional. Jessie Buckley’s performance was particularly striking; she brought such raw emotion to her role that it left a lasting impression. Her ability to convey grief and love was nothing short of extraordinary. Interestingly, our group had mixed reactions and that led to a lively discussion over drinks after the film. While some felt the film was boring and overrated, others, like myself, appreciated its artistry, even if we weren’t completely "wowed" by it. It sparked a fun debate about pacing and emotional storytelling, which I think is a testament to the film’s impact, regardless of our differing opinions. In conclusion, Hamnet may not be for everyone, but its visual beauty and emotional core certainly left a mark on me. I hope you will join us for the next movie night – it is a great way to start the weekend!
