Welcome Event!

Meet & Greet Tilburg
We begin our afternoon at De Harmonie with a drink and an official welcome from our club president Katie Schweitzer. After hearing about our panned events for the year and chatting with other expats living in the region, we will meet our teams for The Amazing Race Tilburg!

The Amazing Race!

Once we have our teams, you will be given a clue to various locations in the city centre of Tilburg. At these locations, the teams will complete a challenge or take part in an activity!

Looking for Membership Director & Secretary

As Membership Director and Secretary, you would be a member of tíc’s Board of Directors helping steer the direction of tíc’s events and activities and taking an accurate recording of board meetings and decisions. However, the main responsibility is managing and coordinating membership, namely the joining of new members and membership roster.

This is a voluntary position and the board works closely together to provide support for all club functions, as needed.

On Friday March 22 a group of TIC members and a couple of invitees went to see Dream Scenario at Cinecitta. Dream Scenario is a quirky black comedy about Paul Matthews (played by Nicolas Cage), a biology professor who begins appearing in the dreams of random people. In the dreams, Paul is passive and does not intervene. Paul becomes famous, which he enjoys, but when the dreams turn dark and violent he encounters the flipside of fame when he gets vilified and loses his job.

We had a full house to discuss The Wind Knows my Name. Overall, most enjoyed the book a lot, especially all the characters and their relationships with each other. Someone pointed out the significance of the names of characters, which seemed carefully chosen to represent the person and gave us an interesting angle with which to view them.

Undeterred by the damp Dutch weather, 9 TIC members made their way to my house in Tilburg north – 5 by bike! – to discuss our latest book – Rosanna. After getting drinks and some snacks taken care of, we got right into talking about the book. While most had liked it, no one was really thrilled with the book.

On the last Friday of February, five of us got together to watch “Poor Things” at Pathe Centrum – a film that we had all heard many positive opinions about, and some of us were enthusiastic about because it had received 11 Oscar nominations. What the five of us had in common was that we really wanted to watch it and we didn’t delve deeper to know more about the film, going with the flow, so to speak.
